BLUMENAU
Main economic and tourist center of the Itajaí Valley, Blumenau is internationally known for the Oktoberfest.
The largest German festival in the Americas, held in October since 1984, attracts many visitors.
Founded in 1850, Blumenau reveres its origins in every corner of the city: in the houses, in the parks, in the monuments. The traces of the Germanic culture can be appreciated in the centuries-old buildings of alpine and half-timbered architecture, art, crafts, rich gastronomy and other festivals that move the city. Colonial-style buildings, well maintained streets and flowery gardens can also be admired on walks through the central region of the city.
POMERODE
The cultural heritage of the immigrants from Pomerania, a historical region that occupied northern Germany and Poland, is remarkable in this city in the European Valley. There are more than 300 half-timbered houses, which have made the City Hall claim the title of city, outside Germany, with the largest number of such buildings. Pomerode also has the largest number of properties listed by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (IPHAN) among the cities that make up the National Immigration Routes.
The legacy of the colonizers is also present in the gastronomy, with emphasis on eisbein (pork knee), kassler (pork chop), stuffed duck and also for breads, cucas, biscuits and pies. All this and more can be enjoyed during the tour.
